Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard, will the game be set in 1950?

After revealing that the next Call of Duty could be called Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard, the leaker ModernWarzone revealed some information about the game's setting. The title should be set in 1950, in an alternate past in which the second World War it did not end in 1945, thus being a ucronia. He stated: "The whole game takes place in an alternate past where 1945 is not the end of World War II".

It is not yet clear what exactly will happen, nor how the continuation of the war has affected the various sides and the reasons that led to this temporal divergence compared to the real story. However we can put forward some hypotheses, for example the Russians may not have arrived at Berlin or one of the most iconic battles (such as that of Stalingrad) suffered a different outcome. In any case, it is always interesting to see alternative pasts, given that "what would have happened if" are among the most fascinating fantasies and questions in history.

The leaker also revealed that Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard is a working title. The likelihood that the game is actually set during WWII is quite high, as this year is the turn of Sledgehammer to develop the game and it's about those who created Call of Duty: WWII, set during the real events of the second great conflict, so it would not be the first time they try their hand at a similar setting.

Activision has already confirmed that the new Call of Duty will arrive in the last months of the year, as is now tradition. Series events usually take place in the summer, so we'll have to be able to wait a little longer before get official information and find out if the leaks are true or not. We just have to continue but follow the next developments to discover the setting of Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard.
