Call of Duty: Warzone now supports 120fps on Xbox Series X, but not on PS5

In the past few hours, Infinity Ward added support to 120 fps per quanto riguarda Call of Duty: Warzone su Xbox Series X. All this, however, has not been mentioned in the latest Modern Warfare patch notes published during this week on social networks, and we are only aware of it thanks to the players who discovered it while testing the famous battle royale on the new Microsoft console.

In particular, the initial tests of the Digital Foundry confirm that Warzone is now aiming for 120 fps on Xbox Series X, but mostly hits between 100 and 120 fps. The tests in question also make it clear that Warzone is currently limited to just 60 fps su PlayStation 5: now only the reason remains to be asked, since no comments have been provided by the publisher or the developer! This is a staggering difference between Warzone, one of the biggest games on the planet that has crossplay enabled by default on all platforms, running on Xbox Series X and PS5. Digital Foundry has tried a variety of methods to check Warzone's fps three times on PS5, and they all see the game running at 60fps. The PS5 has quality and performance modes to choose from in the UI, but even in high performance mode the title's fps don't increase.

Warzone, which looks like a PlayStation 4 app when downloaded to PS5, doesn't launch at 120Hz and there are no game menu features to enable that feature. Given that Warzone can only be run via PS4 backward compatibility, perhaps it would require a full port to Sony's new home console to enable 120fps. All this is in stark contrast to the line adopted by Bungie, for example, who announced Destiny 2 at 120fps on next-gen consoles with great fanfare this week. It is worth noting that Activision released a brand new game on Friday Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and it might be possible that society doesn't want to take attention away from that game right now!
