Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Ubisoft explains why the Hidden Blade is in sight

In recent weeks Ubisoft has released the cinematic trailer for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, during which we were able to admire the protagonist, Eivor, show off the much-acclaimed hidden blade in a somewhat unusual position for an Assassin. According to recent statements, the French giant would have decided to remove the "hidden" aspect of the hidden blade for better fit the tone of Norse culture. We report below what was said by Darby mcdevitt, narrative director of Assassin's Creed Valhalla:

It is a deliberate decision. It's something Eivor feels strongly. When he takes this hidden blade, it occurs to the protagonist that it would be much more interesting to let people see this weapon, to be clearly visible. Vikings were known to have a keen sense of honor, it is very important to let people know that you have killed someone.

Among the Vikings people would not be punished for murder if they had a little justification, like saying that someone insulted you. They would not be punished for murder until they admit it, as long as they openly state "Yes, I killed that person because we went into combat." And so making the hidden blade visible is actually a kind of extension of that honor. We want this conspicuous aspect of the blade to be reflected in the way Eivor presents itself to the world.

Despite the different location, the hidden blade of Eivor will behave largely like the weapon has always done in previous titles of Assassin's Creed. Unlike Origins ed Odyssey, this time we will not be forced to update it assiduously in order to instantly kill the enemies, it will be enough simply to sneak up to them to immediately put an end to their suffering, without having to take their level into account. We remind you that Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be available by the end of 2020 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC and Google Stadia.
