Assassin's Creed Valhalla: new information on Ragnar Lothbrok from the latest trailer

The semi-legendary really existed Ragnar Lothbrok will play a role in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, as revealed by a new trailer. In the course of the game, the protagonist Eivor will face six of Lothbrok's strongest allies, known as Drengr. As with most games in the series, Assassin's Creed Valhalla will likely allow players to encounter a number of famous historical figuresIt should therefore not surprise the appearance of Lothbrok, one of the most famous Viking kings. Notwithstanding this, Lothbrok's inclusion is slightly different; he's basically already dead when the game starts. This means that players will learn about his life and achievements indirectly, through the stories others tell about him.

At the time of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Lothbrok is dead after being thrown into a snake pit from his enemies. Six of his followers, known as Drengr, believe he awaits them in Valhalla. To join him there, the Drengr try to die in glorious battles, and this is where Eivor comes in: he will have a chance to tell each of the Drengrs about theirs fallen leader, his life and his death. Eivor will then fight each of the Drengr to the death, allowing them to fulfill their wishes to die in battle. According to Darby McDevitt, the game's narrative director, Eivor will not encounter the Drengrs during the main story. Like other enemies revealed in the same trailer, the Drengr will be waiting around the world for players to find out. Since Assassin's Creed Valhalla focuses on "world events" instead of traditional side missions, the Drengr will likely not be associated with side missions. This could make them harder to find, as players might otherwise stumble upon them while completing side missions.

The Assassin's Creed series has always focused on historical immersion and the latest game is no exception and the revelation of the Drengr reflects the impressive attention to detail that Ubisoft has brought to the game. Before concluding, we remind all our readers that Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be launched on 17st November for PC, PlayStation 4, Google Stadia e Xbox One, with versions PlayStation 5 e Xbox series X still under development. Did you know that the disc will not be present in the Collector's Edition for Xbox?
