Arrowverse: Marc Guggenheim declares his official farewell

Arrowverse: Marc Guggenheim declares his official farewell

During a recent panel for the series Storytelling Across Media di Comic Con International, the co-creator of  Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow Marc Guggenheim confirmed that he officially departed from theArrowverse. Although Guggenheim hadn't served as a showrunner on Arrow or Legends in a few years, his involvement as the showrunner of DC's annual superhero crossover events T it had kept him very involved in the daily operation of the famous universe. Now, with Arrow finished and Supergirl on the verge of completion, Guggenheim is ready to move forward with the mega-event "Crisis on Infinite Earths”Last year as his victory lap.

Earlier this year, when I spoke to Guggenheim about his directorial debut in an episode of Legends, he still wasn't quite sure what was going on with the universe he helped bring about. Although he initially intended to let "Crisis" be his swan song, the pandemic had raised doubts that he wanted to stay to help ease the transition into 2021. Instead, Guggenheim and Arrow co-creator Greg Berlanti work with comic book legend Geoff Johns su Green Lantern to HBO Max:

With the ending of Arrow and the conclusion of Crisis on Infinite Earths, I have pretty much decided that a chapter has been closed here and it seemed to me that I have said everything I intend to say, at least for now, with these characters in this medium. I have decided to abandon the Arrowverse. By now everyone knows I'm involved in the launch of Green Lantern for HBO Max, so I'm not straying too far, but I'm moving away from the Arrowverse for the time being.

Obviously, fans will be wondering what this means for David ramsey, whose John Diggle became a Green Lantern in the Arrow series finale. Diggle, a variation of John stewart, is unlikely to be a main character, as the official announcement for the series seemed to avoid John or Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern played by Ryan Reynolds in a film in which Guggenheim, Berlanti and Johns wrote and produced the credits. Did you know that the next Arrowverse crossover has already been confirmed for a few months?
