Aragami Shadow Edition - Lince Works stealth review

The videogame landscape continues to constantly enrich itself with small productions, highlighting the minute development studies that have not yet had the opportunity to unleash their full potential. It often happens that thanks to these games it is possible to find genres that have now passed on the sly, or in any case incorporated by macrogenerates that have managed to master it. This is the case with Aragami, of which the Shadow Edition will be available starting next June 5th, title that manages to immerse the player in a chain of mechanics and events that will require a purely steatlh approach, to the delight of all lovers of the category.

What Aragmi takes us to is a world totally characterized by a cartoonish graphic style, in which cell shading succeeds in triumphing, giving the player dark but at the same time comic and lively colors, adapting perfectly to the style of the work. To differentiate the Shadown Edition from the basic edition is the presence of all the available DLCs and the Nightfall expansion: this is a new story that will allow us to deepen the stories of two shadow assassins, Hyo and Shinobu, both on the trail of an alchemist to gain the power to revive a long-dead comrade of theirs. The title offers the possibility to complete the story in both single player and multiplayer modes, even allowing crossplay between console and PC. This is a possibility that should not be underestimated, as completing the game with companions will greatly increase the fun, also allowing users to organize the attack on certain enemies in the way they prefer. As soon as the adventure starts, the thing that will be immediately pleasing to the eyes is undoubtedly the total cleanliness of the interface: the HUD is in fact almost totally absent.

The development team has cleverly managed to exploit some peculiarities of our protagonist's uniform to show the player everything that is essential to know. Moreover, thanks also to the borderline style of cell shading, the distinction between shaded and illuminated areas will be immediately clear, even passing through those with moderate light. This will immediately allow the user to understand how to move and orient himself, not only with regard to walking but also for the special movements that will allow you to instantly switch from one dark area to the next, often giving different possibilities for action. Despite the usefulness of this mechanic, which is capable of significantly increasing the fun and adrenaline during the game, it is precisely with this that the main issue of the title: a technical sector bordering on mediocre. In fact, after just a few minutes of playing, you risk falling victim to some bugs or other problems of any kind. An example is precisely the one concerning the jump from one shadow to another which, should it fail taking you to a precipice, not only will make you return to the top by continuing to fill the skill bar even if in the light - this should in fact fill only only shadow -, but it will risk making you fall under the floor of the map with the total impossibility of going back up.

Another refinement that is missing is certainly related to the artificial intelligence of the enemies, which will make clear many of the patterns with which they will move and will make some villains appear exactly positioned in such a way as to facilitate stealth killing. In any case, this fails to affect the gaming experience, which is still exciting and at times adrenaline, capable of giving that feeling of satisfaction that only an excellent stealth can give. This emotion multiplies further if we consider the rich arsenal of moves allowed to the player, which are enriched thanks to the Nightfall expansion: these will go from creating shadow areas to be able to move more easily, to generating shadow creatures that will attack the enemies, all accompanied by the thrusts of our irreplaceable katana.

In conclusion, it can be said that Aragami Shadown Edition is a great title with out-of-the-ordinary potential, especially considering it's a relatively small production. The game manages to give purely stealth mechanics, making them work fully despite being plagued by some technical problems. To further enrich the experience there is a graphic sector capable of giving dark but at the same time lively colors, without ever losing consistency with the style of the title.
