Among Us: development of the sequel canceled one month after the announcement

Released quietly a few years ago, Among Us is undoubtedly one of the titles of the moment along with Fall Guys and the particularity of its gameplay is certainly one of the causes of its recent success. For those unfamiliar with it, this is an "investigative" title in which, randomly at the beginning of the game, we can impersonate a crew member of a space station or a impostor. The latter has the task, alone or together with other individuals, to sabotage them task of the crew members and eliminate all the other players, obviously without being discovered and expelled from the game. Available on PC and devices Android e iOS, Among Us has gone viral and played so much that the developers of Innersloth, initially unprepared to manage such a sudden amount of server accesses, they decided to work on developing a sequel, announcing it about a month ago on their official blog.

Yet, according to one of the game's co-creators to the site PuffballsUnited, such an idea would seem to have already been set aside from the software house. Below is one of the most important passages of the press release, which also explains the initial choice to make a sequel:

The main reason we were thinking about a sequel is because Among Us 1's core code is very outdated and isn't built to support adding so much new content. However, seeing how many people are enjoying the game really makes us want to be able to support it and take it to the next level. We therefore decided to delete Among Us 2 and instead focus on improving Among Us 1. All the content we had planned for Among Us 2 will instead go into Among Us 1. This is probably the hardest choice because it means going to deepen the code base of the game and rework different parts of it.

At this point, we just have to wait for new communications from Innersloth regarding the addition of new game elements in its bizarre and very played multiplayer title, remembering to consult our guide on how to create a private match and act as an imposter or crewmate.
