Akira: The live-action will be shot in California and will be produced by Leonardo Di Caprio

Finally, after a long period of silence, the California Film Commission has announced the start of production of the live-action adaptation of Akira, historical manga / anime made by Katsuhiro Otomo. The company has granted the Warner Bros. Entertainment a credit of 18,5 million dollars in tax incentives, for a total budget of approximately 92 million dollars. Although the film is set in Tokyo, Japan, it will be shot entirely in California. At the head of the productions there will be Leonardo DiCaprio e Andrew Lazar, while the direction should be entrusted to Taika Waititi, director of Thor: Ragnarok. We still don't know when filming will begin, nor when Akira will reach cinemas.
