    80 years of Marvel Comics: Mickey is celebrating with the Avengers

    Founded in 1939 under the name of Timely Comics by Martin Goodman, it was only in February of '61 that the House of Ideas took the name of Marvel Comics, launching various super heroic comics including The Fantastic Four # 1. Eighty years have passed since the time of Timely Comics and the publisher will publish shortly Marvel Comics # 1000, not far from the date of the acquisition by Disney, which took place ten years ago, on 31 August 2009. For the occasion, a Variant Cover was presented, designed by Humberto Ramos (The Spectacular Spider-Man) and colored by Edgar Delgado (Star Wars: Darth Vader), which he portrays Mickey Mouse intent on bringing a cake to the most popular characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the background there are also references to the editorial history of House of Ideas, like Namor, Hulk and the Fantastic Four.

    Marvel Comics # 1000 will be previewed on 24 August al D23 Expo di Anaheim, and will be officially released (at least in the US) on August 28, with the standard cover by Alex Ross. It will boast the incredible number of eighty creative teams at work on the register.
